Purchasing just a headboard is not terribly expensive and yet will change your room tremendously.
There are many headboards to be found in a Southwest theme. This is because the Southwestern theme is so popular today. You can choose simple or detailed, stained or painted and wood or wood blended with metals.
Rustic pine headboards are made from kiln-dried pine. These are often stained a honey color so that the knots and imperfections show through. These pieces are all handcrafted so no two are exactly alike. There are color variations and cracking visible adding to their individual beauty. Some of the pine headboards are made with wrought iron which gives them their own unique look. Either of these headboards would look great in a Southwestern-themed bedroom.
White Bed Headboards
Another great headboard is one that is made out of reclaimed wood. It is fumigated, kiln-dried, stained and sealed. The entire headboard area is taken up by an engraving of a sun which is a big part of southwestern themes. Going with the sun theme is another headboard which is available in the same colors. This sun, however, has its rays cut out at the top of the headboard giving it a scalloped look.
Unique in every way is the cactus headboard. These Caldera headboards are made with Insigne pine from southern Chile. They are inlaid with cactus planks from the Quisco Cactus which grows in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile. Cactus takes years to die. During this decay period it is exposed to sun, wind and sand. This is what gives the wood of the cactus the unique color tones. Each Caldera headboard is handcrafted individually in Chile.
Another attractive headboard is one with copper inlays. Copper panels are hammered and embossed with diamond shapes. The panels are framed with reclaimed wood. The wood is cut in such a way that some of the panels are large, some medium and some small. There are 5 finishes available with this headboard. There is also a headboard with a huge piece of hammered copper framed by thick hand-forged iron. The result of the copper and thick black iron is impressive and would be a wonderful addition to a southwest bedroom.
